Bucket Lists

"I'm 17 and I have terminal cancer. I've created a bucket list because there are so many things I still want to do in my life ... some are possible, some will remain a dream. My blog is to document this precious time with my family and friends, doing the things I want to do. You only have one life ... live it!"

These are the opening words on Alice Payne's Blog. Just over a year ago Alice sadly passed away but her bucket list has inspired me to make one of my own. Some of them are silly, some are very unlikely to happen but hey ho!

1.Go Scuba Diving - Some of you may no about my love of the sea, except in the winter it's too cold, so now that I've sailed on top of it I fancy going in it. Obviously I've swam in the sea before, sailor with a tendency to fall off the boat here.

2. Skydive - I've wanted to do this for years looks terrifying and amazing all at the same time.

3. Paragliding - Sensing an extreme sports theme here?

4. Get kissed in the rain - Hey I'm a girl I watch movies don't judge OK?

5. Make a reading list and stick to it - My reading list for 2014 is about the length of my arm so should be easy to complete.

6. Spend a night under the stars - As in "sleep" under them, I did this when I was eleven after a week long guide camp so was asleep after a few minutes. The stars genuinely fascinate me but while there isn't much light pollution where I live I would love to be able to see them in much better detail which leads me to my next point:

7. Visit New Zealand - A few years ago I saw a picture someone had taken when camping in New Zealand that vaguely looked like this and I've wanted to visit ever since.

8. Photograph the stars - time lapse maybe, came up with this one recently and would need a serious upgrade equipment wise but I've still got years of life left, hopefully.

9. Volunteer abroad - This one is being worked on as we speak for summer 2015, no plans yet just an idea. I've done a fair bit of volunteering close to home and it's taught me so much about other people and so I thought I'd extend my horizons a bit.

10. Turn down a cure for diabetes - As I've said before (see this post) I wouldn't want to get rid of my diabetes it's a part of me. However I would love for other people who struggle with it to be able to lead a life not dominated by it and so I can't wait for a day when a cure for type 1 diabetes becomes available to all those who need it.

Okay so some like the last one are completely out of my control but a girl can dream.

New Year!

Hello to you people of the Internet and Happy New Year!
I hope everybody had a lovely Christmas and not too drunk New Year. My Christmas was good lots of good food and company I was given lots of money for that little driving thing I can do now. We went to my uncles for lunch and I managed to leave my testing kit at home which meant we had to spent the whole day guessing what my blood sugar levels were, but as far as I can remember they were pretty good.

I guess you could say my new year was pretty average, I spent it with the famalam which was nice and we watched Life of Pi which was surprisingly rubbish. It was just so depressing and that really didn't help my excellent mood, anyone else detect the hint of sarcasm? My crappy mood was based on the fact that at my old school there was a party for everyone and a few people had said they would get me a plus one so I could go and it never actually happened. To be honest with you I wasn't so much annoyed that people forgot to invite me because I can't say I was that surprised it was more the fact that I felt a bit like EVERYONE was there. I'm well aware of the fact that obviously not everyone was there also I hadn't had any contact with any of them for over a week which was unusual, not for all of them just a few. Any attempts to contact them appeared to fall on deaf ears and it all felt a bit like a one way friendship. However some of them have resurfaced and recovered from, by the sounds of it, a very messy night out so perhaps it was a good thing I wasn't there.

Now that we have exited the limbo land between Christmas and New Year I am going to do some shameless self promotion. I have almost every social networking site under the sun and apart from this most are non diabetes related, and I don't always talk about diabetes here either. Anyway most are merely for entertainment/stalking famous people:
Twitter: @_snitchseeker
Instagram: rhonamacgregor7
Tumblr: mypacreasispurple

However one of my passions is photography and although I don't get to do it as often as I would like I have set up a small facebook page to prevent me spamming of my "friends" news feeds. It would mean a lot to me if some of you could have a look and maybe a cheeky little like. I'd like to say I use it often and my photos are good however neither of these is true and I'm not expecting you to look it would just be nice. It should come up under Rhona MacGregor Photography however here's the link just in case it doesn't: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rhona-Macgregor-Photography/339320579501719

Shameless promotion over have you guys made any New Years resolutions? Have to say I'm so bad at keeping them I just don't bother anymore but I might set one to write on here more regularly, you lot would love to read some more of my ramblings wouldn't you?
