The Name

Long time not writey, again. One day I'm sure I'll get the hang of writing on here regularly, though not sure that'll be likely in the near future. Reliability isn't one of my strongest traits but all we can do is work on that, si?

This time I thought I'd explain the name of my blog and now I've realized exactly how short that story is I may add some other odd ramblings on the end. In March 2010, I think, I received my first pump which was a Medtronic. I got to choose a colour, which for a thirteen year old is an incredibly exciting thing. So I chose purple which was and still is my favourite colour. Now the simplest way to explain the use of a pump to myself and my friends was that it was like a pancreas. The thing that was wrong with my pancreas was "fixed" by the pump. One of my friends first reactions was "so you've got a purple pancreas?" which is where the name came from.

A couple of years later I got an "upgrade" to the accu-chek pump which I do prefer as it has many more useful features such as being waterproof, except when being dropped at the bottom of a lake, but it's black. My thirteen year old self is still upset about the fact that I didn't get to choose a nice colour. You can get skins which are basically stickers on the pump and they do make it look really cool. However the amount of time i spend in the sea means that they get ruined fairly quickly and so I haven't got anymore which sucks. 

Still wasn't very long in the end!
